Kristin Metzen
Kristin Metzen is a WNY native who has loved plants and nature since she was young; however, she has a self-professed black thumb when it comes to almost all houseplants apart from succulents & cacti. Kristin quickly fell in love with the incredibly vibrant, unique, & resilient plants & began feeling even more connected to the power of nature as her succulent collection began to, not only grow, but thrive, sometimes under less than ideal conditions. Succulent gardening became a way for Kristin to manage symptoms of daily anxiety & depression by helping her to relax & let go, encouraging her to be in the present moment, & allowing her experience joy in nurturing a plant, or arrangement, and seeing it bloom. The word ‘succulent’ is an adjective used to describe something juicy, rich in desirable qualities, &/or providing mental nourishment. ‘Life is Succulent’ became Kristin’s mantra, reminding her that, like her succulents, she has the ability to grow & thrive, even under less than ideal conditions. Kristin created Life is Succulent as a way to share her passion for these amazing plants with others & to help spark the same mental & physical health benefits she’s experienced while gardening, in others.
